There’s no doubt this is a difficult and trying time for nearly everyone, and small businesses are being hit the hardest. Many of us are being extra cautious with our own spending (myself included), but it’s also a time when we have the ability to make a real impact with our dollars.
While we are all embracing life at home for a bit, I recommend trying to look to small businesses for your needs. If you are tired of cooking, order takeout from your neighborhood restaurants or buy gift cards for when they reopen. Or you can give to organizations like @roar.ny that are advocating for the 15 million people employed by restaurants nationwide, many who are now out of a job.
Perhaps you find yourself looking for a cozy throw blanket, new art to spruce up your home, a desk lamp for your office, a puzzle to pass the time, or some pretty candlesticks to make dinners at home feel fancy. I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite small shops and businesses you can look to for these items and more. Plus, many are offering discounts to show their thanks for your support!
Stay well xx
