Welcome to our Studio Update series! Each month, we’ll be sharing about what’s going on behind the scenes at CHD. 2021 posed lots of challenges with construction delays and supply chain issues but this year, many projects finally kicked off construction and we’ve been eagerly tracking their progress.
LOS FELIZ: Our Spanish Los Feliz project is starting to take shape! The kitchen cabinets are getting installed and the walls have been painted, which makes such a huge difference. The space originally had dark, very dated cabinetry and felt disconnected to the architecture of the home. Our new kitchen design is lighter and the positioning is anchored around a beautiful arch separating the kitchen and dining room. The outcome should feel fresh but highlighting the original Spanish features (like those stunning stain glass windows!). More to come!
PACIFIC PALISADES: We also kicked off construction on a project over on the west side of LA. The home was originally built as a spec home, and we’re infusing character in the renovations, while making the layout and footprint much more functional for the family of five. We’re incorporating lots of color, texture, and playful patterns into the design schemes.
A Trip to Mexico City
I spent a long weekend in Mexico City in March which was so inspiring. Our project manager Julia was there for the first few months of the year and had the best recommendations. Here were some of our must-see stops:
Eat at Maximo Bistro in Roma Norte. One of the best meals we’ve ever had!
Spend a day in Teotihuacan learning about the Mesoamerican temples and cultural history. Highly recommend this Airbnb tour!
Shop the Tianguis La Lagunilla (a HUGE flea market in CDMX!). This happens daily, but Sundays have the most vendors.
Stroll through Roma and La Condesa for endless shops, restaurants, markets, and beautiful parks.Reach out if you have questions or need more recommendations in CDMX!
